It’s been a few months now since my visit to Singapore, and my blogs have also been infrequent (sorry!) as it’s been a hectic few months. But I am keen to share my Singapore experience with you as wow! – how Singapore has changed since my last visit which was around ten years ago.
My clients have been raving about Singapore for a few years now, telling me how much Singapore has really come of age, and boy are they right! We had an amazing ten days there, so much to see and do.
We actually spent a few nights in the Singapore city itself and then stayed on nearby Sentosa Island for our last few nights and this proved to be the perfect mix.
Our Singapore hotel – the Swissotel Stamford – was in the perfect location, and being right by an MRT Station meant we had immediate access to every area/attraction we wished to visit.
We experienced Marina Bay Sands/Gardens By The Bay, the Singapore Flyer, the Merlion, Clarke Quay, Chinatown and Little India. We shopped till we dropped at Orchard Road and the Chinatown Markets, and drank Singapore Slings at the Raffles Hotel in the famous ‘Long Bar’. And we also did the Night Safari at the Singapore Zoo – a great night out and well worth the trip. Getting around was easy and we certainly took advantage of seeing all that was on offer.
Sentosa Island was also fantastic and a great place to base yourself for a few days, particularly if travelling with children. Known as ‘Asia’s Playground’, it too certainly exceeded our expectations.
Universal Studios was a great day out and we then bought an Activity Pass which allowed us to do Segwaying, Megazip (a 400m flying fox which was exhilarating!), High Ropes/Low Ropes Courses, the Skyline Luge and Adventure Cove Water Park. And there were lots of other options to choose from too such as the Wave House, iFly, Combat Skirmish….. the list really does go on and on… And if you’ve got time, there are also great golf courses on Sentosa, lots of bars and restaurants and beautiful beaches to chill out on, so it’s fine to relax if the adventures challenges are not for you.
The food throughout was fabulous – chilli crab, spicy curries and yummy satay. If spicy is not your thing, there are lots of western options too – something for everyone.
We really had a fantastic break in Singapore and I would highly recommend. No longer a ‘stopover with nothing much to do’, Singapore is most definitely now a ‘happening’ holiday destination, and one that you’ll certainly enjoy.
