I’ve always heard lots of great things about the Spicers Group properties – stunning locations, fabulous food, luxurious spas to die for and the perfect places to take an indulgent weekend and spoil the ‘special person’ in your life, and yourself at the same time of course! So I was very excited to spend a weekend at Spicers Tamarind in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland recently.
Set in Maleny’s beautiful countryside, the luxurious villas are secluded and surrounded by rainforest with stunning views, a cosy fireplace, hot tub outside on the verandah, double shower bathroom and spacious bedroom and living area. The sound of the nearby cascading waterfall is soothing and it is the perfect retreat to rest, relax, unwind and escape from the ‘real world’.
If you want to get back to nature, enjoy hiking the nearby walks/trails, or you may want to enjoy and immerse yourself in jazz at the bar/restaurant on a Sunday afternoon whilst sipping a cocktail or glass of wine. You may desire to just take time out, chill out on your villa verandah, sit and read or take in the peaceful atmosphere and enjoy some well earned down time.
Spa Anise is heaven and located on site – a stunning tranquil haven of spa and body treatments, facials, foot spas and hydrotherapy. From the moment you walk in you will feel relaxed and Spa Anise is the perfect place to relax and unwind for a few hours. The aromatherapy oils are divine and the staff pay attention to every detail starting with a welcoming foot spa/massage and finishing with a cup of blended tea to complete your spa experience. You’ll never want to leave, that’s for sure.
The Tamarind dining experience was nothing short of superb – dinner with an Asian twist on modern cuisine. The flavours, tastes and textures of the dishes were amazing with something for everyone, some spicy, some sweet, some sour. Dinner was truly a taste sensation and the restaurant is more than worthy of its’ 2 Hat’ rating, a real culinary delight that will surprise you. The cocktail and drinks list is also extensive, and don’t forget to try the ‘Turkish Delight’ cocktail – absolutely sensational!
The Tamarind is also home to a Thai Cooking School, so you have the opportunity to learn from the best and hone your own cooking skills. Classes are small (with a maximum of twelve participants) and you will certainly enhance your cooking repertoire and spend a few well spent hours if you want to learn how to cook with amazing Thai ingredients… they also offer French and Italian classes, so check the website for dates and details if you are interested.
So if you want to enjoy a few days of pampered luxury and indulgence, think about taking a weekend at the Spicers Tamarind. You certainly won’t be disappointed and will return back to civilization refreshed, relaxed and rejuvenated.
