Everyone loves to take a little bit of time out – time to rest, relax and rejuvenate, and recharge the batteries so to speak. And sometimes it’s the smallest breaks that make all the difference of achieving a balanced life.
I took my two boys to Brisbane last weekend, just to have 24 hours away from ‘normal’ life. The main purpose of our trip was to watch the British & Irish Lions Tour rugby in Brisbane, but we thought ‘let’s stay down for the night and enjoy Brisbane’ – why not?
We stayed at Traders Hotel, mainly because of its location, as it’s a very easy walk to Suncorp Stadium from there. And it’s always been a good value, four star hotel, perfect for an overnight sojourn if you want to be close to the city and all it has to offer, with easy access to transport.
As I said before, it’s the little things that make a difference when staying in a hotel for the night…. crisp, usually pristine white sheets/doonas, long, hot showers without the pressure of being in a rush, room service, long leisurely buffet breakfasts and a swim in the pool (not that we were swimming last weekend!).
Lots of people I know headed off camping last weekend for the Public Holiday, taking advantage of an extra day off work…. Again time to chill out and enjoy quality time with family and friends.
Yes, it’s just great to take time out and enjoy something different and absorb new surroundings and all they have to offer. It doesn’t matter what you do, it’s just the chance to enjoy a change of scenery, the opportunity to avoid email/phones for a couple of days. The chance to take in a show or a concert, watch a game of sport, shop till you drop or just relax and chill out….. bliss!
So take time out to ‘smell the roses’! A long weekend away is fabulous to re-invigorate you, get you back on track and motivate you to put some extra balance into your life.
We had a terrific weekend in Brisbane, even though just an hour from home, and it was great to spend time as a family, something we don’t always get time to do in today’s busy world.
So where are you heading for your next ‘mini break’?
