Beautiful Byron Bay

After a hectic few months, it was time for some well earned rest and relaxation, and what better place to visit for a bit of time out than Byron Bay?

As we only had a few nights to spare, we decided to do it in style and spent three luxurious nights at The Byron at Byron Resort which was simply divine. What an amazing resort; well appointed, spacious rooms, an inviting pool surrounded by sun-loungers and day beds, a five star award winning restaurant and tranquil, luxurious spa facilities. It was the perfect setting to chill out, relax, read a book and enjoy scrumptious cocktails and fine food. Definitely something a little bit special, and my afternoon ‘Heavenly’ spa experience was fantastic.

The main highlight of the trip was a Byron Bay Ballooning hot air balloon ride, the perfect way to start my birthday fun! The surreal experience was more than worthy of the very early start and a once in a lifetime unique experience. The views were spectacular, the sunrise stunning and we had perfect weather conditions which all made for a beautiful morning, followed by a champagne breakfast. The ride itself was smooth and serene, the stillness and silence was in complete contrast to a regular flying plane experience.

We enjoyed time at the Lighthouse, wandered around town, enjoyed time at Watego’s Beach and The Pass. We also took in the neighbouring towns of Bangalow, Mullumbimby and took a quick stop at The Crystal Castle.

Another highlight was lunch at The Farm – home of the Three Blue Ducks Restaurant. The Deli/Shop is a fest for the senses of any foodie, and lunch was fabulous.

Miss Margarita is another great eating spot, focused on fresh Mexican favours as you would expect from the name! A very popular spot too, and they do not take reservations, so make sure you are early and grab a drink at the bar while you wait for a table.

There are cafes galore, scrumptious ice-cream/gelato shops, chic boho shops and gorgeous gift, clothing and book stores. The lack of the ‘usual’ fast food outlets is also refreshing.

Byron Bay really is a haven for surfers, hipsters, adults and children alike. There is so much to do, so much to enjoy and it’s all at a calm pace – the perfect place to chillax. We’ll definitely return again next year – it’s becoming an annual event!
