Princess Cruises – Sea Princess

Sea Princess Pool Area

Last week, the Sea Princess ship was in town and I was fortunate to be invited for an inspection and hosted lunch together with nine other Event Manager’s/PCO’s – lucky me!!!

The Sea Princess was spending the day in Brisbane. It was her first stop (she had departed from Sydney) on a 104 day World Voyage, now how fantastic would that be? The Sea Princess has the capacity to host 1990 passengers, so is considered a mid-size shop from the Princess range perspective… not too big and not too small.

The spectacular atrium welcomed us as we first boarded and we were the ‘walked around’ to take in the fantastic facilities on offer – a spacious pool area, luxurious ‘Sanctuary’ area, state of the art fitness centre, beauty salon/spa, hair salon, numerous bars and lounges, restaurants, nightclub, casino area, library, Kids Clubs to suit all age groups…. the list goes on! And there are cabins to suit everyone and to suit all budgets, including Interior, Oceanview, Balcony cabins and Suites.

One of the great things about cruising is that your cruise fare includes accommodation, all main meals, snacks, entertainment, Kids Club facilities, ‘Movies Under The Stars’ on the big screen, which is the case with most cruises. So all you have to worry about from a cost perspective are drinks, optional shore excursions, beauty treatments and some other activities (internet café etc).

We were viewing the ship from a conference/meeting perspective and cruise ships are an ideal set up for small conferences and incentive groups. So why think about an event at sea?

  • As well as all of the usual inclusions, your cruise fare automatically includes complimentary use of theatres/meeting space, complimentary use of standard audio/visual equipment and access to an Audio Visual Technician
  • Spouse activities/children’s programs again are already included
  • Your delegates unpack one and you can combine business and pleasure – all in the one ‘space’ and you don’t risk ‘losing’ them to outside activities/other areas. They can’t go too far can they?!
  • Most importantly, based on the above you will receive fantastic value for money when you consider what is included – offering a terrific event at a reasonable price!

And when I refer to events, it doesn’t have to be a conference or business meeting.

A ship is also a great venue for small special interest groups, weddings, family get-togethers etc.

I had a fantastic day and the Sea Princess is beautiful. Lunch was fantastic, the facilities are fabulous and a great day was had by all.

Cruising is one of the fastest growing travel options throughout the world, so why not think about for your next holiday or event/conference?
